BBD: 1 March 2020 Geary's flagship has been rated 22/25 most important American craft beers by Food and Wine Magazine. This is a classic British pale ale with a nod to the legendary beers of Burton-on-Trent. Copper-colored, dry, clean, and crisp with lots of late hop taste, in a complex of ale fruitiness from imported Hampshire yeast. Two row English malt (pale, crystal and chocolate); Cascade, Mt. Hood, Tettnang and Fuggle Hops.

About the brewery

Geary Brewing Company is a dynamic Portland brewery with an important history in both the craft beer world and the state of Maine. Incorporated in 1983, Geary Brewing is New England’s First Craft Brewery in the post prohibition era and holds federal craft brewing license #13. This innovative brewery started a craft beer movement when it poured its flagship beer, Geary’s Pale Ale, in the winter of 1986 and since then has developed an extensive line of heritage beers brewed in open fermentation.

Well balanced full bodied ale, real easy drinker
Felt very traditional (and was not literally pale). Malty and bittersweet, cutting through a slightly chemical approach.
Slightly sweet taste with maybe a burnt aftertaste. unusual but drinkable
