Swartland Reserve Chenin Blanc / Sauvignon Blanc

The nose bursts forth with vibrant aromas of green apple, ripe pear, and citrus zest, showcasing the inherent freshness and fruitiness of these varietals. The inclusion of the old bush vine oaked Chenin Blanc adds complexity, lending subtle notes of vanilla and a delicate toastiness that gracefully integrates with the overall profile. Crisp green apple and zesty lemon are punctuated by the intriguing bitterness of lemon pith, providing a delightful counterpoint to the fruit-driven flavours.

Covering a huge swathe of coastal South Africa, just north of Cape Town, Swartland looks on paper to be one of the country’s largest wine regions. Despite this, its actual output is relatively small, and it often finds itself in the shadow ...

About the winery

Swartland Winery, established in 1948 in Malmesbury near Cape Town, has grown into the largest cellar in the Swartland Wine Route. Renowned for rich, fruit-driven wines, particularly Shiraz, Chenin Blanc, and Pinotage, it fosters a close-knit community of winemakers. Emphasising sustainable practices and local involvement, Swartland uses traditional, low-yield bush vines to get the most from its unique terroir.
