About the brewery

JW Lees was founded by retired cotton manufacturer John Lees in 1828. JW Lees became most famous for cask ales, Mild and Bitter, brewed to satisfy thirsty Mancunians grafting in the workshop of the World. In more recent years the range has evolved and includes craft lagers, the legendary Vintage Harvest Ale and the experimental Boilerhouse beers that encompass the spirit of adventure inspired by John Lees nearly 200 years ago.

Pleasant to drink, typical pale ale but nothing outstanding

Old-school traditional values. Brown rusty ale with redcurrant vibes and woody hues. All ended by surprising lightness of pear and melon. Interesting brew.
