Black Eagle Black IPA

ABV 5.8% Size 330ml

BIPA the paradoxical style, pours almost jet black but despite appearances is very much a West Coast style IPA. Big floral and citrus aromas of Cascade and Centennial hops alongside piney Chinook and resinous Columbus combine with a solid (but not roasty) malty backbone to give a bitter West Coast finish that boggles the mind.

Ingredients: water, malted barley, yeast, hops. For allergens see ingredients in bold.

About the brewery

Brew York is based in the historic city of York, where its tap room, beer hall and smokehouse kitchen offer over 60 beers on tap, all combining to form one of the UK’s best on-site drinking experiences. Brew York produces an eclectic array of beers; but is most known for decadent milk stouts and comical pun-based beers such as Rhubarbra Streisand and Goose Willis.

Not the beer's fault, but I find black IPAs to be like a half of nondescript stout mixed with a half of nondescript IPA. And the result is less than the sum of the two halves.
