Georgian Whites

This 100% Mtsvane comes from the protected appellation of Manavi, recognised for its superiority of terroir. The wine has a warm climate character; tropical fruit, ripe stone fruit and yellow flowers dominate the nose. The palate is soft, round and spicy but with the citrusy freshness typical for Georgian wines. It almost reminds one of Southern Rhone whites! It is certainly a food wine, pair it with fried goat cheese, bouillabaisse or paella.

This hand-harvested Rkatsiteli is a benchmark for this often underestimated indigenous Georgian grape. Full of yellow plum, quince and white peach flavours with excellent weight and concentration on the palate. The highlight, however, is the citrussy freshness and a long mineral finish. Almost like a combination of good Chenin, Pinot Gris and a Chablis! Delicious. Drink chilled with scallops, quiches, frittatas and mild cheeses like Caerphilly & white-rinded cheeses like Brie.

This traditional blend of Rkatsiteli and Kakhetian Mtsvane from the appellation-controlled region of Tsinandali was cold fermented to preserve the freshes, aromatics and flavours. It is a very well-made wine with flavours of green apple, a whiff of white pepper and ripe yellow plum. The palate is round and soft but with good freshness and a spicy, lingering finish. Serve chilled with smoked salmon or trout, spring vegetables like asparagus & peas and light seafood pasta dishes & risottos.
