2024 has been a year of many firsts for Beer52, and while we’re grateful for every new friend we made this year, one in particular really stood out. We were introduced to Attic Brew Co by our friends at Northern Monk, and shortly thereafter we ventured down to Stirchley, Birmingham, to meet the team. What we found at the brewery and on-site taproom was a truly vibrant community of brewers and drinkers, with both camps treating Attic’s small corner of Stirchley like an extension of their living rooms. The aim of Attic’s taproom and city centre bar, The Barrel Store, is to bring people together, and as such, we thought the brewery a very worthy winner of our UK Champion award.
“It's been a really tough year for the hospitality sector and breweries in particular, so I'm really proud that we've been able not just to survive, but actually grow in popularity,” says co-founder Oli Hurlow. “The challenges of the last few years have put pressure on the whole industry to keep ingredient costs low, but resisting that to produce something that people love and really want to drink has been key. This year we’ve continued working to improve everything from beer quality to the way we interact with our customers, which is a testament to the team at all levels. We've also been working towards the goal of becoming the Midlands' best loved brewery for some time, so we'll continue on that path for the coming year. That means we'll aim to be more widely available in the region, but also continue to promote Birmingham and the wider Midlands to the rest of the country. It really is a great place, so everyone should come and visit!”
